Micha Klein (Netherlands) 1964

Micha Klein graduated in 1989 from the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam as the first artist to receive a BA in computer-graphics.

Since 1989 Klein, has held exhibitions in galleries and museums worldwide with his monumental photo-panels which utilise diverse digital techniques and styles. His digital 'paintings' draw attention with their bright colours and smooth surfaces, but show underneath, a unique world with references to art history and pop culture.

In 1998 the Groninger Museum honoured Micha Klein with a 10 year retrospective of his digital art and video.

He has exhibited in London, Tokyo, Milan and San Francisco. In 2000 a show at the Mary Boone Gallery in New York launched his career in the US which included a collaboration with Rapper Eminem. Other clients include Swatch and Coca-Cola and the animations for 'Around the World in 80 Days' released summer 2004.

Klein has also won several awards for his pioneering VJ'ing work.

Currently in 2002 Klein's work is included in several international museum shows and is working on a new body of work.
